This is a super edited cut from all of my SuperMacro series from youtube.

Everything was shot with my HDR-HC3 except the frog which was with the hv20.

5 minutes long , Check out around 1:15 for one of my favorite parts

Awesome. Hows the hv20 for macro ?
  • Lucasberg 9 months ago
    Thanks
I only have used it once and it seemed sharper than the HC3, but I wish it had the same type of macro mode as the HC3. Im looking to try it in AV mode at F8 for more DOF.

Beautiful animals, and really well-done shots. It's great that you make beautiful the bugs we are surrounded by all day and usually think nothing of.
  • Lucasberg 8 months ago
    Thanks ,

Some of these bugs are only a few millimeters and Im addicted to to see the details.

very, very nice. seems like the editing could be a bit tighter though. maybe about two minutes long instead of five? still, man. there was so much great stuff in there.
  • Lucasberg 8 months ago
    Thanks Blake

It was hard to edit because it was some of my fav's from about 7 episodes that were 2-5 minutes each. It's sort of a best of so I figured a little longer wouldn't hurt . If people watch the whole thing that's awesome.

The rest I'm trying to keep shot and sweet . Thanks for the suggestion.

Where on earth does one go to find such creatures? This kind of video can open a lot of doors!
  • Lucasberg 8 months ago
99% was shot in my back yard or my in-law's back yard. Most of the bugs are micro and you really have to look to see them.
  •
  • Wendell Marshall 8 months ago
I guess that means Orange County, California... no critters like that in my back-yard... thanks for the close-up.

    wow, creepy and awesome!
i especially loved the shot of the extreme close up of the spider and you could see you in the reflection of his eyes, it looked very intimidating for the spider lol

all i can say is WOW!!!!!!!!!!! i have the same camera. you're not using any special lenses for this right? just the built-in macro? i gotta try it now :)

amazing! did i say wow? :)

you should SO get the HD version of this on vimeo. i would love to see it in HD.
  • Lucasberg 7 months ago
    Thanks,

This was shot mostly with my HDR-HC3 with either a reversed 50mm slr lens or through my 180mm slr macro lens. There is a picture of it in my profile pictures.
  • Mark Jensen 7 months ago
WOW! now that's a macro lens! i gotta get one for my HC3 now :)
  •

    Lucas,

I gotta say, this must be the coolest macro shots I've seen. The one where you can see your reflection in the spider's eyes as well as the grasshopper's eye texture is absolutely incredible! Excellent job, man!

Here's my 1st trial at the macro world:
