Model Free Methods are used in the life sciences, in data mining, and elsewhere when solving problems in domains where robust Models (scientific models, hypotheses, theories, formulas, equations, and computer programs) describing the problem domain cannot be created or productively used. Such domains include the global economy, the stock market, human physiology, drug design, the semantics of language, and Artificial General Intelligence (AI or AGI). This interactive workshop discusses MFMs and provides four worked-through examples of MFMs applied to problems: How to aim a cannon, how to predict the chance to get a hereditary disease, how to do language-independent spelling correction of text, and how to do "visual mind-reading" of sorts based on research done at University of Berkeley in 2011.
