You’ve heard the expression, “stress kills.” Well it’s true according to ongoing scientific research. William Schmidt, M.D., with Norton Cardiovascular Associates says stress causes chemical changes in the body that negatively affect the heart. A young Louisville mother and businesswoman found that out first hand when she had back-to-back heart attacks at the age of 43. Get Healthy’s Jackie Hays investigates the link between stress and heart disease, and why it’s so important to take stress seriously.
Norton Healthcare is hosting a series of six free stress management seminars in 2012 at the Marshall Women’s Health and Education Center on the Norton Suburban Hospital campus. The first one is Wednesday, February 15 from 6 to 7:30 p.m. and deals with stress and its impact on the heart. For a listing of other dates and to register to attend, call (502) 629-1234.
