Zooms are achieved by changing the focal length of a lens. You can zoom in or zoom out.
Zooming in is a great way to focus the viewer’s attention on something specific within a scene.
Zooming out allows you to reveal the bigger picture to a scene and to show the surroundings.
By using a tripod, you'll get a much smoother result than shooting handheld.
Optical zooming in created by the lens moving. Digital zooming is created by your image being magnified.
If your camera has a digital zoom, we recommend you turn it off as it usually produces poor quality footage. You’ll get a better result by physically moving your camera.
Grab your camera and give it a go on your next project.
