The Southern Pines Historic District Commission met in the Boyd Room at 180 Broad St. SW, Southern Pines, NC on February 9, 2012. This video is an excerpt from the meeting covering a discussion by the Commission of expanding their sphere of control by either annexing properties into the Southern Pines Historic District, by creating "overlay" historic district areas, or by designating specific properties as "Historic Landmark" properties. The Commissioners discuss a Request for Proposal (RFP) that has been issued to contract consultant support for studying additional properties located within the Southern Pines town jurisdiction for incorporation into Historic District Commission control.
They discuss how this might be done with or without the agreement of the property owners and how it might be incorporated into the new Southern Pines Unified Development Ordinance.
