When the instinct to avoid pain contends with moral responsibility, the hope of happiness can be the one force that compels us towards transformation. This film explores the instinct to run and the impact it has on happiness. Using an analogy of a Tar Pit, we inspect what happens when one becomes stuck running away. Our main character has been running from a tragedy she was involved in. Instead of seeking to forgive herself for the event, she chooses to punish herself by removing herself from society and living off of the discards of the city - followed by her childhood friend. It's only by resolving this condition that she comes to terms with the truth that she's been denying herself the opportunity for joy.
