This is an excerpt (chapter 9 of 9) from my DVD "The Light Painter." In 60 immersive minutes it provides a 20-year overview of 121 of my light paintings. These images are created not by a computer, but by moving the camera during long exposures in front of many kinds of light sources, from tiny LED's to huge firework displays.
The accompanying music is taken from my solo improvisation performances on vintage keyboards, at Superdeluxe and other venues here in Tokyo - my home since 1985.
The word "Tamashii" is Japanese for "soul."
The original images are very subtle and detailed (they were shot using a Hasselblad H2 with a PhaseOne P45+ digital back).
Another excerpt from this DVD was Clip of the Week from December 6-12, 2010 at the iotaCenter website:
"The Light Painter" DVD was featured in their Members' Showcase in Santa Monica, CA on December 10, 2010.
Several of these images were featured in Artworks Magazine (USA) Winter 2010 issue, and exhibited at the Winfield Gallery, Carmel, CA in October 2011.
