It's funny how many people think that God, the church, or Jesus Christ is irrelevant only until things in their lives begin to fall apart. People find a reason to stop me in the hallway or in the grocery store when their stuff is in jeopardy or their livelihood are being threatened. When the storms of life are raging in our relationships or in our finances, there's a line full of people who need God to show up and show out in their lives. So we make our way to church with our hands out asking God to perform a miracle on our behalf. We sneak a peak at televangelists on TV when grazing the channels, hoping to get divine answers to our troubled minds. Church pews fill up, the prayer list gets longer, and the need for divine intervention is at an all time high.
But, is it possible that you can need God to do something in your life and not experience it? Is it possible to ask God to change your situation and he not move when you expect him to move?
The truth is that it's possible to be in the right place, at the right time and still miss your miracle. Yes, you can do all the right things and still watch your miracle pass you by. Many of you already know that there’s more to receiving a miracle than just showing up at church when you need a financial blessing or your health is deteriorating. Believe it or not, you can't just stroll in and out of your relationship with Jesus Christ and expect to see the promises of God poured out in your situation. You can't just pick Christ up when you're in need and put him down when everything is going well in your life.
