In 2010 Sparkle Dance Films began pre-production on their second film called Makebelieve Reality. Catrina Farnell heading up the production wrote a basic script which was then adapted by Steve Otway for the screen. Catrina also chose the musical tracks and choreographed the dances. As Producer Catrina organised the shoot and took charge of the casting, equipment hire, and on location legal work.
The films narrative focuses on a group of friends that don’t see what’s really going on in each others lives. Many of us think we know someone, and don’t always see the troubles that affect them because they don’t want us to, or don’t know how to tell us. The way we live our lives can be a struggle, especially if you’re not being true to yourself or your heart. That which we strive for but never achieve can drive us to lead us into a downward spiral of lies to both others and to ourselves.
“We’re two in a million pieces,” lyrics from the final track by Ben Brick. Could be seen as we are not alone, amongst thousands of others with the same guilt, desires or pain but we don’t know due to never expressing. Yet could also mean two people, broken apart. Never knowing how to cope.
