I love these pieces you have been making with the digital harinezumi Nick! The visuals are dreamlike and the music is wonderful, the aquarium sequence is inspired but I love the whole thing.
    Great stuff, arigato.

    Thank you very much, Cameron.
  •
  • This is great. What was it made on?
  • nick dangerfield 2 years ago
    Thanks Disposable Film Festival.

It was filmed using the Digital Harinezumi, which is a new, tiny movie camera made by the Japanese company Powershovel/Superheadz. Then clumsily put together with iMovies.

    Nick,

What beautiful stuff. Watching your videos gives me the same warm and pleasant feeling I used to get as a kid, watching "picture picture" on the Mr. Rogers kids' show. You've reminded me of just how beautiful trees look in the wind. I forget just how much energy the wind carries. Thanks for putting me more back in tune with life. :)

This is so kind of you. I am very, very grateful.

Hello, Nick. This was beautiful. May I ask, did you adjust the colors of the video, and what are the native dimensions of the video file? I've never seen anything at 960x540 before, so I was curious if that was done in post-process.

    Thanks so much, awesome work.
  • nick dangerfield 2 years ago
Hi Michaelspotts, thanks for your comment. I did not adjust the colours of the video. I edited with imovies and the size is one of the optional sizes in imovies, I think. I don't know much about editing video, sorry...

hi Nick, this is just lovely. these shots remind me of the still images you can achieve with the holga camera.
I am going to look into this camera you used.
very inspiring! the music is beautiful too.

I really like this video, the atmosphere is key and the music only helps create it. The only thing I'd say (personally) was that the higher 'twangy' bit of the guitar wasn't needed - for me the piece would've been better with the great backing and the images alone. But yeah, it's great - keep up the good work.
  • nick dangerfield 2 years ago
Thanks Richard. The twangy part I did with a Japanese koto. It is a beautiful instrument, just learning how to play it now, next time I hope it will sound better!

    hey nick, awesome film!
where can i get one of these cameras?
would you know if they sell it online?
  • nick dangerfield 2 years ago
Thanks Kayhan. Right now the camera is only available in Japan, from superheadz.com/digitalharinezumi. Soon it should hopefully be arriving in the US.

lovely work. my favorites were the scenes with the flowers in the foreground with the house in the back. great use of music too.

and the colors and the images remind me of old 8mm family movies. great job.

Now THAT is a cool camera. Must get me one. Thanks for sharing. Felt very nostalgic, fuzzy and warm and yet you took it last week. Nice work. You have to work hard to get effects like that in the edit... I know, I've tried! I wonder how large a ratio the film can stretch to on a 2 mega pixel sensor? Hope they bring it to the UK.

So I got this in the mail finally and I was wondering... how is the movie you posted in widescreen?
  • nick dangerfield 2 years ago
Sorry but am not sure. It seems to be an option in iMovies, which is the application I use for editing.

    This is absolutely amazing.
About the camera... it says that it uses cr2 batteries... how long do they last?
  • nick dangerfield 2 years ago
Thanks very much. I use the camera compulsively and the battery still takes me well over a week.
  • Autobotika.Niko 2 years ago
Awesome, you should charge the company that makes those cams for advertising, i bet you're making everybody want one of those.

Hi Nick. Just a quick question:
Were you changing the RGB hack mode of your degi hari? also, are you still able to take videos when you change the RGB numbers? and how do you change it to black/white?

    Thanks so much.
  • nick dangerfield 2 years ago
Hi Ethermoon - I did not change the RGB hack - not a clue how to. I change to black and white in iMovies. Not much else.

    thanks.

How do you "refit" a normal screen image into a widescreen image?

    If the original was 640x480.
  • nick dangerfield 2 years ago
Fernando - the size is an option in imovie. I would like to change it but they normally come out in widescreen format. Thanks.

Nick, this video really creates a "dreamy" atmosphere... for me it was Sunday-mood (though I know it was shot on Friday and Saturday)... you might say that you're not a good video editor but your results are always awesome! (vids and photos) ^_^

    keep it up
  • nick dangerfield 2 years ago
