This is a small walkthrough of the CGFX Editor that I built for Team Alpha.

The Editor was the front end to our material system in XSI. At it's simplest it would allow for the editing of the games material system. At it's most complex it would manage the materials and textures within the scene and ensure that the asset in XSI and the asset in the game were always up to date. This became a core feature as the entire material system could be edited externally to XSI and updated to the game in real time. To that end the Editor would perform a material validation pass and ensure that what the artist saw in XSI was exactly what they would see in game.

This video shows some of the reasoning for the editor and some of the under the hood features.
