45. Introducing the Zephyr300
Join Steve Weiss and Jens Bogehegn as they explain why the Zacuto Zephyr300 is the only lightweight support plate option currently available on the market for the Panasonic HPX300.

Panasonic changed the way LWS plates mount to the bottom of their cameras with the introduction of three new support pillars on the HPX300. Zacuto’s new Zephyr300 takes advantage of this change to create a plate that uses 7 points of contact to secure the plate to the camera. Working in conjunction with the Panasonic Quick Release Plate, the Zephyr300 allows users to adjust rods up, down, left and right to align the matte box to the camera lens. Weighing a mere 8 ounces, it offers rock solid stability while allowing access to every button feature on the front of the camera. In the video, Steve and Jens illustrate the plate’s strengths, while providing a sneak preview of the new Zacuto “Z-Crank.” The Zephyr300 can be purchased online at store.zacuto.com/Zephyr300.html

    Love the leprechaun around 5:50!
  • What leprechaun?
  • Joseph Stunzi, IENCE 8 months ago
Okay so it's more like 5:52... but he's there! Or he's St. Patrick, one or the other!
  • Dude, I have no idea what you are talking about. You must have St. Patricks day on the mind.

Great accessory for the 300, can't wait to see your booth @ NAB. Could the Zephyr 300 be modified to work like the Z-B4-india dof kit, with away to connect a zoom control like the varizoom on the handgrip? That way to me it feels like you have more control when in hand held. Left hand on the Z grip ( Znuckle) pulling focus, and right hand controlling zoom and rec. Let me know if it possible. thanks
    Big V
  • The B4 Indie kit is for using a DOF adapter. The HPX300 is not a B4 mount. Letus is in the process of making a DOF relay for the HPX300 when that arrives in 8-10 weeks, then yes, you will be able to create a HPX300 indie kit. You can use a Varizoom controller for the start and stop feature but odds are you won't have a Zoom lens on the DOF adapter, and even if you did, the zoom feature wouldn't work.

Now if you create a HPX300 Indie kit for use with the stock lens that comes with the HPX300 and you are not using a DOF adapter then the zoom feature will work on your Varizoom.

  • By the way, I like Znuckle for when we come out with a knuckle for a C-stand arm. I'll start noodling that. steve

I like Big V's idea of making a z grip more of old time pistol grip with the servo on it. My idea for he name: "The Znob", not to be confused with the snob. That would be rude.
  • Znob???? Maybe. Let me run it by the boys.
