this is where it started for me, the double album with everything i ever wanted of music. i've got wrinkles, the film has a slightly dated feel but the music is exactly the same. as is the emotion while listening. time only exists in certain places but not in others.
work of art.
Yes , okay , song is nice words are better. video ...ugh it is justnice to see Mr Raznor , thats all.
- Trent Reznor
They pick and they pull. Trying to get their fingers in..
Well theyve got to kill what we found. Well theyve got to hate what they fear. Well theyve got to make it go away. Well theyve got to make it disappear...
and ya know his voice breaks up and never really even hits a "note" its just yelling
but thats what great its raw
also, trent mentioned in interviews that on parts of the fragile they favored the more strained vocal takes instead of the more perfect ones.. he wanted it to sound desperate, and flawed, and imperfect.
the best part about trent's voice is, yes, it's raw, but it's HIS REAL voice. every singer has to FIND their true voice.. or they can choose to sing with a fake accent. evidence of this is easily found.. just take a look on youtube and find trent's 80's videos. he tries to sing with an accent.. not his own voice. he hadn't found it yet.
there are entire genres based on accents though.. which kind of sucks. (screamo, --core, scene, etc) when everybody sings the same way.. it becomes generic and unoriginal really fast. the reason why singers like kurt cobain, and trent, chris cornell, eddie vedder, perry farrel.. etc etc.. all have very different voices is because they've all found their real voice. it wasn't about emo-style, it was about being yourself when you sing.
lol sorry i doubt you expected your comment to garner such a response but i just feel like telling everybody this, because it's so important.. for both singers/musicians, and listeners. i've found my voice.. and i love that i don't sound like anyone else. it's a very good and happy feeling.
