This is a series of videos that merges the chapters on thermochemistry and thermodynamics (traditionally taught separately). The series begins with a discussion of concepts and definitions and then transitions to mathematics. While work and internal energy are defined, these concepts are not an integral component of this series. Enthalpy (H) and entropy (S) are described as the “balancing act” that leads to an understanding of Gibb’s Free Energy (G) and spontaneity of systems at constant pressure. Helmholtz Free Energy is not included in this series. Since these are all state functions, there are a variety of experimental and mathematical approaches that can be used in the study of systems. Those traditionally included in a year one college level general chemistry textbook are included.
