I am interested in guise. As technologies improve, quantities and qualities of artifice improve with it. This
is particularly an epidemic related to new social medias where people have become more capable and interested in producing idealized representations of themselves. This is nothing new but the exploitation of seemingly authentic and trustworthy platforms have increased beyond control and is now left up to the credibility of the source and keenness of the seeker. In this way, the machine aesthetic etches itself upon more than just an object. Behavior becomes manufactured even more.
This complicates the process of creating things. I find myself overwhelmed with the knowledge that is readily available and skeptical of the truth. Part of me desires to mask my objects with layers of half truths and misleading information simply because, but dishonesty has a way of revealing itself to those who are sincere. In order to challenge my predispositions, this work evolved into a more minimalist piece in regards to materials, than as initially perceived. I am attracted to the cube for many various reasons but as I developed an obsession over these concrete forms, I learned the significance of allowing the objects to speak for themselves. No longer was I interested in injecting intangible meanings. That information could remain private since the work was being done for me in a more authentic way.
