got bored so took my new hv20 out to the promenade on the lisbon coast. summer never seems to end here. thought i'd make things complicated for myself and try some cray-zay editing to the caribou track ('pelican narrows') that i chose.

that smoothcam filter in final cut 6 sure does make for some interesting visuals.

enjoy :)

Very nice - like the cinematography more than the jazzy editing though. Tell us a bit about your settings for the various shots, especially as you got into the evening shots...

    Good work!

yeah, i was gonna scrap the song and the editing quarter way thru, but thought what the hell, just get somethin out there. videographical sketch ;)

its all in 25fps, and i colour corrected a couple of the night shots to make the highlights and maybe some of the midtones more blue. a few of the shots have the smoothcam filter on, which give it a dreamy feel at times.

Very impressed with the colors and cinematography. Makes me wish my HV20 would come sooner. I'm assuming you like the camera.

Excellent. I liked the editing - especially when it makes the old guy shake it. Name of the song and artist?

is the smooth cam really a steadycam feature? what does it do?

its a final cut video filter that you can use and it uses some algorithm to process through the footage and find the average frame-to-frame, so you get a faux steadicam feel to it. its not perfect, and if you look close you can see how it does it, but i like the dreamyness of it.

Really great vid, Im a Sony Vegas user and I just got final cut studio, so this is all new to me, but I really can't wait to try out the smoothcam filter on footage already using a steadicam.

Great vid tho, loved the locations, the colors, and the smoothcam shots looked pretty darn good for being software made.
