Stop motion short film for an internal communications campaign for Lloyds TSB bank.
The piece extensively uses 2d flash animation. After each character was animated each frame of the animation was then laser cut on to special cardboard, placed in set, lit and finally shot on Canon 7d in-house at VooDooDog, London. This was combined with real world models made to look like lo-fi polygonal computer models with faceted edges, a throw back to 1980's computer animation aesthetic. A good example of this is the shot with the watering can.
The final film was put together in After Effects but the compositing was minimal apart from some grading and two shots where the paper characters are unfurled in a row.
Initially we imagined we would need to do more computer work, but in the end very tight planning and storyboarding meant we could complete the project within the clients tight schedule of four weeks!! whilst keeping the photographic look.
