Gusty ocean winds blow from the Monterey coast through the Salinas Valley to our vineyards in the foothills of the Santa Lucia mountains.
Our fruit matures in strong daytime sunshine, but is kept cool by the constant wind and nightly marine layer. In one of the longest cool climate growing seasons in the country, we are never rushed to harvest.
We expect lower yields with extended hang time on the vine, and the result is the wonderful combination of full maturity and vivid natural acidity that is the signature of our Monterey Pinot Noir and Chardonnay.
