Monastery Chess Kids
Chess players from seven to fourteen years old compete in a day-long tourney in Cumberland, RI. Participants traveled from Connecticut and Massachusetts, too.
The Cumberland Office of Children Youth and Learning (OCYL) is a municipal department created by Mayor Daniel J. McKee and established by ordinance in February 2007. It is the first of its kind in Rhode Island. Its mission is to help foster a comprehensive learning environment for Cumberland children in the first two decades of their lives while promoting youth civic engagement.
