Our roving reporters - Anne Hamersky and Jared Zystro - spent time at the 2012 EcoFarm Seed Swap to ask folks what they loved about swapping seed. For those of you who have never attended a seed swap and wonder how they work - it's pretty simple:
Seed Swaps are normally one time or yearly gatherings that bring people together to share seeds they grow. Sometimes commercial companies attend and give away packets to try and introduce growers to their varieties, but sales are not allowed. The more folks who bring something to share, the more exciting it is. But you don't have to bring seeds to participate, you can simply attend and enjoy the generosity that seed saving provides. For the gardener or farmer, you can discover new varieties, and often get a good story that goes with the seed.
