XSI Team Alpha - Exporting Characters
This is a walkthrough of exporting characters to the game.
All the characters on Team Alpha were made of parts. You could then randomly combine the parts to form new characters out of the parts pool.
This walkthrough shows one of the favorite magic buttons that I created the Auto Skin button. This was a way of automatically skinning the geometry. We used the naming convention of the part to figure out what skeleton, gender, and area of mesh we were going to skin. And then we used gator to transfer the weighting from a series of good weights that would be brought silently into the scene and then removed.
