3. SexyBack vs. Legend of Zelda Theme on Two Tesla Coils

As described on arcattack.com:

"ArcAttack employs a unique DJ set up of their own creation (an HVDJ set up) to generate an 'electrifying' audio visual performance. The HVDJ pumps music through a PA System while two specially designed DRSSTC's (Dual-Resonant Solid State Tesla Coils) act as separate synchronized instruments."

"These high tech machines produce an electrical arc similar to a continuous lightning bolt which put out a crisply distorted square wave sound reminiscent of the early days of synthesizers. The music consists of original highly dance-able electronic compositions that sometimes incorporates themes or dub of popular songs."

Video shot at SXSW 2009 on a Canon 5D Mark II. Apologies for the poor audio. It really doesn't do it justice.

Very awesome and so unreal to have seen in real life. Must have them do a show in SF. I think they would be very well received, don't you? :)

I went to see Arc Attack a few years ago at SXSW but, as I recall, it was canceled due to rain. Wet floors and high voltage don't mix well. In other news, I built the first version of the Open Labs web site. It's cool to see they are still doing well.

RJD2 and his live band rocked both Zelda and SMW theme tunes (albeit sans tesla coils) in a visit to SF late last year. It was thoroughly enjoyed by the audience.

For those who've never seen a live tesla coil show, you need to experience one in person; the noise is incredible.

Arc Attack is awesome. I saw them live at Maker Faire 2008 in Austin Texas, they were great up until the power went out!
