Bernard Kiwia, chief inventor for Global Cycle Solutions (Arusha, Tanzania) tells how he made his bike-powered cellphone charger.
It was on display at the Smithsonian Exhibition at the UN in New York City from October to January 2012.
Bernard has invented a bike-powered water pump, drill press, windmill, hacksaw, and a solar water heater among other things. He won the 2011 GO Innovation Award and teaches problem-solving with technology to Tanzanian youth and villagers.
