Clearwater Beach, Florida: Canon 5D Mark II
2 years ago
This film was shot entirely with the Canon 5D Mark II. This was a test film at night on Clearwater Beach, Florida. They have a sunset series with street performers, artist, musicians, etc. This is the spring break season, so the beach is busy with tourist.
I only used one lens, the same lens Canon is packaging with the camera. 24 - 105 EF USM, F4. Since I am a videographer first, I did not have a wide selection of lenses for this shoot......that will come later (I'm still waiting on my canon endorsement deal).
The film was shot in 2 hours & then the complete edit in Final Cut Pro was finished in another 3 hours. No colorization or grading has been done. This is RAW right out of the camera. No lights were used, just natural street lights. I wanted to strip things down to the basics and see how the camera would hold up. I was impressed by the final images. There are issues with the rolling shutter effect. I was warned about this, but I was able to pick up on it while shooting and made sure I had multiple shots of my favorite images and compositions.

I really like the video, good colours in night time! And one more reason I like this video is I stay in Dunedin for more than one year and I use to go every weekend at this beach! It’s amazing beach, the sand is pure and its very neat & clean beach.
Well, this is finest beach I have ever seen in my life. This video reminds me the entire place in this video, I still remember, thanks for sharing this video.
I would really appreciate if you can shoot some evening time with nice light and the followed by sunset would be great video, and I want to download that same video if you do same.
Really missing this place! We have had great time in Clear Water beach and in Tampa!
Superb video, good people and place as well.
I would appreciate if you allow me to download this video, wanted to show to my friends here in my surround.
Thanks for sharing.

grest editing. wow.......
Was it very intense?
Also were you hand holding this cam?
Night time and default lens looks amazing!!!
Im looking forward to buy 7D...
What do you believe?
PS: What's the song?
I was hand held with a support system, so there is some shakey movements. You can see some Jello effect from this movement.
Song By: Citizen Kane
The benefits outweigh the negatives since the image quality is amazing. 2011 should be interesting to see some new Video cameras with DSLR mounts.
I would not recommend this as my main video camera for most shoots since you have limited controls, but it is great for highlight stuff. Some people shoot with multiple 5D's.
I prefer mixing my Sony EX 1 with the 5D or 7D. I'm able to color match without much issue.
The cost factor comes into play when you have to go out and buy multiple lenses. The L-Series lenses are worth the price, and once you buy lenses, you are set for life if you take care of them.
Oh, by the way, could you disponibilize this footage for download so I can test some edition with stabilization? I won't be posting this anywhere. Just thought it was a beautiful and perfect footage for what I want to practice.
(If it's a problem, nevermind. After all, asking wouldn't hurt.) ;)
Another final compliment: great video. Wonderful capture. Nice track selection. Congrats from Brasil!
