16. Wrington Church Hug - Mothering Sunday
2 years ago
It is a custom in the county of Somerset, and some other areas of the UK, to hug the church on Mothering Sunday. This day is one on which people celebrate, not only their own mothers, but also their 'mother' church. In rural areas this means the village church, which was traditionally at the centre of village life.

All Saints' is the parish church of Wrington, Somerset. The current Rector, the Revd Nicholas Maddock, presides over the 2009 re-run of this custom.

    Dear Richard,

Thank you very much for this - it far surpasses my hopes and expectations. Brilliant!
