My name is Rick Grobbee, Epidemiologist and University Professor of International Health Sciences and Global Health. Within the UMC Utrecht, I founded the Julius Centre for Health Sciences, which is specialised in large-scale patient research. During the next five years I will devote my energies to the Circulatory Health key strategy program.
What does the Circulatory Health key strategy program entail?
The mission of our key strategy program is for people to live longer and healthier by ensuring that the infarction or stroke does not recur. We also intend to follow patients after treatment so that they do not fall off the radar. The Circulatory Health key strategy program focuses on:
-atherosclerosis
-heart failure
-stroke
This key strategy program represents a stronger vascular profile for the UMC Utrecht. We will set the standard for prevention, prediction and prognosis of all vascular disorders. This will not only be beneficial for patients but for employees and researchers as well. Employees can make optimal use of their qualities and expertise and we will receive more financial aid for research.
Goal/results
My goal is for the UMC Utrecht to receive the “healthy vessels” logo of the Netherlands in 2015. This will be ‘the place to be’ for both patients and research talent!
