This map shows where yellow fever broke in unusual proportions between 1800 and 1900. It shows the evolution of the disease as one that mostly struck the Caribbean and North America, to one that infected many along the Brazilian coast. The area of yellow fever may shifted because (aedis aegypti) mosquitoes were introduced into new urban environments with higher rates of shipping and passenger traffic. Mosquitoes spread the disease among humans and mammals.
