This week we're joined by Matt Bonney and Sean Paxton at the Hard Liver X BarleyWine Festival at Brouwer's Cafe, while we sip on the winning festival beer, Lost Abbey Brandy Barrel Aged Angel's Share.
We talk about the judging process for the festival, the differences between traditional Barleywines, and what we expect to find with them these days, and the incredible variations between different Barleywines.
On Master Pairings, Stephen leaves the table to care for other business, and Matt, Sean and Dr. Bill enjoy the second place beer, Firestone Walkers Abacus ( yes, Abacus the 2011 version, not Sucaba ). They pair this delicious barleywine with a fabulous barleywine cheesecake with Chambord cherries, which they all feed to each other.. huh?
After Master Pairings we go outside and interview some of the fans of Hard Liver waiting in line to get in and enjoy some of the 62 barleywines on tap for this event at Brouwer's Cafe.
