Artist statement:

I was asked by my school to paint a wall for a new youth-centre, but when the politicians in charge found out that I wanted to use spray paint the cancelled all founding for the mural. Instead I was forced to use regular paint and brushes.

I decided to still do the mural, but in protest I came up with the concept of painting a big spray cap, which to me is a symbol for graffiti culture and expression. The mural is a protest to the Swedish government's zero tolerance policy against graffiti. The policy suffocates the freedom of expression, especially for young people. It is in direct conflict with the basic values which a democracy should be based on.
