A DREAM COME TRUE
aka Mechte Navstruchu
Dir. by Mikhail Karyukov & Otar Koberidze, 1963
Russia, 63 mins.
In Russian with English subtitles

SUNDAY, MARCH 18TH – 7:30PM
THURSDAY, MARCH 29TH – 9:30PM

Heeding the call of a beautiful Russian love song, the aliens of planet Centuria resolve to send a ship to Earth to make friendly contact. But when they crash land on the moon, it's up to Russia's greatest scientists and humanitarians to launch a dangerous mission to recover them. A Dream Come True may be sentimental and propagandistic, but its photography and futuristic set design is a jaw-dropping tour de force of color and imagination—one of the most uniquely captivating and graphically compelling visions of space travel ever committed to film. Spectacle screens a unique composite unavailable anywhere in the world in any form that combines pristine, unedited picture, the original Russian soundtrack and newly remade subtitles. Each screening will be preceded by Roman Kroitor & Colin Low's short UNIVERSE, a similarly awe-inspiring and technically accomplished visual paean to the mysteries of space, along with a special Dennis Hopper surprise. Admission includes a free space trinket.
