Skorpion is the title sequence I designed for the 1983 BBC TV thriller, which takes its name from a Czech machine pistol and the hallmark weapon of an Eastern European terrorist cell engaged in hunting down a renegade member who has sought asylum in the UK. The sequence was shot on 35mm film using several tarantula spiders as they are surprisingly shy and are basically only interested in getting away from the light. They don't take direction that well, but we were patient and lucky that they co-operated as much as they did, even to the extent of obligingly and menacingly settling on the trigger of the gun at the end of the sequence as planned.
