This is a poem I wrote about living with HIV. When I was named Poet Laureate of Bucks County in 1995 I read this poem at the ceremony and they wanted to take my award back. The outrage spiraled out of control to the national press. Some of the headlines read, "Buck Officials Want a Nice Poet Laureate, topics such as AIDS are annoying." Poet Laureate License to Lascivious for Some." When I listen t this poem now I still cannot see the problem. (I did not say the f-word at the ceremony)
