I just returned from an awesome two weeks in North Carolina, training at SIM with 18 other missionaries for our overseas ministries. From tornado warnings to deserts after every meal (including breakfast) there wasn’t a second that wasn’t exciting. However, the one thing that stood above the rest was the encouragement I received from everyone. It was amazing to hear the testimonies of the other missionaries, and be with others who were going through the exact same thing as me. I was so edified by the stories of sacrifice and the passion for their countries. I was moved by their dedication and deep love for Jesus.
This all worked to remind me that the Body of Christ, the church, was meant to be a beautiful and precious thing. That it was meant to founded on a solid rock, and to house deep compassion and love. It was to be a place of sharing, grace, encouragement, and hope. And a place where, when people encountered it, they knew it was the House of God.
The Body was meant to be one.
