A night time lapse sequence taken from the forthcoming film with the working title, 'Cantre'r Gwaelod and Tales of Inundation'. This film will form the practical component of my PhD project at Aberystwyth University. This project is co-funded by Snowdonia National Park and an Aberystwyth University KESS scholarship.

Cantre'r Gwaelod is a mythical kingdom said to exist in the inverted C of the Cardigan Bay, between Ramsey Island and Bardsey Island on the West Wales coast. It is often described as the Welsh Atlantis. This 6th century tale tells of a terrible deluge of the land caused by the negligence of the keeper of the lock gate, Seithenyn.

In these times of anxiety about climate change and concomitant sea level rise; potentially this ancient myth serves as an allegory for the future of coastal communities.
