This is a short clip inspired by Hans Zimmer's music from "The Thin Red Line". My tribute to great composer and beauty of nature.

Antarctica was the last, 7th continent I visited and dove. Kind of a last stop on a journey called "Earth". But in fact the journey never ends...

All shots were made with Sony EX1 camera.

Leopard seals scare me! I was a NAUI Divemaster many years ago but I never did dry suit diving much less in Antarctic temperatures. I've always wondered though, what do you wear to protect your cheeks and lips from that level of cold?
  •
  • Carl Cross 2 years ago
The power of moving images is such that you put something as visually striking as this in a public domain and it can ignite a wish fulfilment in many of the people watching to go the place and experience it for themselves. Your film is beautifully shot and cut; but the score, though very well composed, smacks to me of Hollywood epics and grants the film a style which is uncomfortably beguiling in the current climate. I seldom see such elegant footage of Antarctica. I would have liked a very different soundtrack: something fragile, something which instilled in me a sense of responsibility rather than wowed me with notation and orchestration akin to mainstream blockbuster motifs. I hope your film raises awareness and stimulates concern about Antarctica as opposed to spawning ideas of a more touristic kind.

Amazing, the leopard seal dance is breathtaking.
Not sure what is more impressive, the fact you made the perfect shots with this bad-ass in front of you or what we get to see here.

Anyway cool stuff, nice to see the EX-1 doing so well underwater too.

OMG Darek! Did that seal try to eat you ?! I just wanted to add my fulsome praises to the lengthening list... You really should, to my mind, get prizeS of some kind for this... whatever the nature film equivalent of the Oscars is! And what an amazing huge gift to those of us who will never be able to, for all sorts of reasons, dive in Antarctica. Thank you so much for generously sharing this incredibly beautiful video.

First I was stunned. Then I was mesmerized. Then I was stunned again. When I found my breath, I used it to laugh in enchantment. Then I was awed. Finally I got very quiet.

This was a really marvelous marriage of picture with music. Perfect choice, and it's easily one of Zimmer's finest works. I thank you immensely for this video, sir!
