A quick tour around my setup for Sheridan College's upcoming production of Sweeney Todd. This is a new chamber orchestration by Zak Sandler. Very cool, but it also means that I'm almost constantly playing more than one instrument at a time - I think I counted something like 35 different combinations of simultaneous instruments when I went through the score.
The metal plate that I tap part way through is supposed to sound like a washtub (not a washboard). It's actually a duct end cap that I picked up at Lowe's. Not sure yet if that's the final sound, but we'll see how it goes.
A huge thank you to Chris Reesor at Yamaha Canada for lending brand new timpani, xylophone and tubular bells for this show.
Sweeney Todd runs April 10-21 - visit the Theatre Sheridan website at sheridancollege.ca/News%20and%20Events/Theatre%20Sheridan/Buy%20Tickets.aspx for performance times and tickets.
