Despite UN warnings of ongoing conflict in South Sudan, the Israeli government has begun the removal of an estimated 700 Southern Sudanese asylum seekers (figures may actually be higher) who are returning willingly, the remaining are being threatened with deportation at the end of the month.
The Interior Ministry claims that since South Sudan gained its independence in July 2011 its citizens no longer require protection from the state of Israel.
According to various reports the region still suffers from widespread violence and just in January, 3000 people were said to have been massacred in ethnic violence.
Most Southern Sudanese say that they just wish their country to be peaceful before they return.
