JVC GY HM-100 Another Quicky Look
Just a short little look on the JVC-GY HM-100.
3 CCD 1/4 inch Progressive Scan Sensors.
Weighs under 1.5 KGs and packs a pretty nice punch in
terms of manual features as well as SDHC dual slots.
it is nice to handle but focus can be a little challenging as the LCD screen is not as good as I would have hoped for. even though it has the patented focus assist, it is very very different from the GY-HM700 screen and manual controls are very easy to use as you will notice in the video all the manual controls have individual physical buttons so there is not necessity for touch screen settings etc. low light IMO not great at all owing to smaller size 1/4 inch sensors.

Chris Suspect 6 months agoHi Derek, thanks for this review. I am contemplating getting one of these mainly for the Quicktime export. I am currently an XH-A1 user and love it (except for importing footage.) I know you have experience with the XH-A1 as well. One thing I like about the XH-A1 are the custom presets, and I have yet to see a review of the HM-100 that delves into image color customization/manipulation. Did you explore that factor when using the camera, and if so, how does it compare to the XH-A1? Also, where do you adjust the aperture on this one and is it convenient to use on the spot? The zoom/focus switch also seems a lil' awkward, but maybe it just takes getting used to. I like shooting in full manual mode usually.
