One of the major problems for someone who wants to live his life with a sense of purpose and direction is the problem of certainty or the problem of being assured that you possess true knowledge.

Certain or fully reliable knowledge about yourself is inseparably tied to true knowledge of God. Equally true knowledge of God is tied inseparably to true knowledge of self. In practice what this means is that unless you know who you are in relation to God, then you will not have certainty about yourself or God in this world – and you certainly will not have true peace.
