Disappearance in Prose. (Faye Mullen, 2012)
Through the inhale, the body as vessel is filled to capacity then evacuated entirely by the muted sound of the scream. In the moment of unrest, the moment after the vociferation and before the breath, the figure possesses neither agency nor passivity, is neither heard nor muted. She embodies silence, builds a voice for the body. The body exists, therefore, in a state of unrest, a state of crisis.
A performance for a large-scale single-channel video installation.
Field of reeds, voice, artist’s body.
Dimensions of the installation vary according to space.
HD, Colour, Stereo. 04:32. 2012.
