Father Rasle's Demise in the Maine Woods
In the summer of 1724, a colonial British force traveled up the Kennebec River to the Indian village of Nanrantsouak in the Maine Woods to capture or kill a Jesuit priest living in the village and to eliminate French influence among the native people. Today, visitors can see a monument to Father Rasle on Old Point Road in Norridgewock.
