At a news conference held Tuesday, March 27 at the Public Safety Building, Grand Prairie Police Chief Steve Dye introduced the department's new Priority Video Alarm Response plan.
Athough police will continue to respond to all burglar alarms, alarms that have a video confirmation of a burglary or suspicious activity will get priority response from officers.
With the new video technology, officers get visual confirmation on what caused the alarm and real-time (visual) updates while responding.
This technology has given law enforcement an important tool that will allow patrol officers to respond to fewer false alarm calls and increase apprehensions based on a priority response to video alarms.
