Aloha from the wonderful island of Oahu!

This wedding was unique and special because it happened to be my sister's. I didn't want to shoot this wedding, but she wouldn't have it any other way. It's very rare to see our dad, who is always so proud and strong, become so vulnerable. He ultimately set the tone for this film. My sister is his princess and it's never going to change.

This wasn't a typical Laotian wedding, but it did have some elements of a traditional one. Early in the morning both parents had to ensure that food and drinks were prepared for our loved ones who have passed. It's traditional to pay homage to them and to have their spirits bless the newly weds on their special day. Who am I to argue with tradition?

Though there was more to the wedding, she asked that I don't show everything because this film will be screened at the Traditional Laotian Wedding, all the moments that were treasured, should stay with the people that went. It was an intimate wedding, filled with many laughs and tender moments, you just had to be there to experience it, and I couldn't have agreed more.
