I like your reel. Great Stuff. Question. At about 1:18 you have the guy playing guitar and a flourish animates out from behind him. I get how to track something on the xy axis, but in your shot, you pull back. How do you keep it tracked/scaled on the Z axis appropriately? Thanks, Matt.

    Great Reel!

Matt, I think he tracked position, rotation and scale for the shot. With the scale tracked, if the shot pulls back the elements in it scale down, and so woul the growing element that is parented to the track data. At least that´s how I guess he did it.

Thanks for the input. I guess i need to find a tutorial on z tracking/scaling. I just started messing around with tracking real footage in after effects and I would love to figure out how to do what Luciano did with that shot I was talking about. Thanks again A3.
  • hey matt, sorry i didn´t answer before, but well it was a little cheat, since the footage was HD, and my reel was going to be on SD, i made a camera movement by hand on the big shot, so it's not even tracked, it's a still shot. you can hardly tell but, you can... the trick was not paning or tilting coz the perspective would have killed it, but since i did just track and zoom back it worked out pretty nicely. :D
