The Town Moor is a huge area of precious green space right in the heart of the City of Newcastle upon Tyne. Protected by an act of Parliament going back to the reign of Queen Elizabeth the First, this huge green lung is still used for grazing cattle by the Freemen of the City.
Every year, at roughly the end of March, the cattle are taken from their winter holdings and released onto the Town Moor.
