The Musical Evolution of BATMAN
I'm a film score collector: indulge me!
This is only a tiny handful of favourite moments from a terrific series of scores. It was genuinely a struggle to keep this thing under 1/2 hour long.
I wanted to basically give a sampling of how incredibly diverse the music for Batman has been, show much it's evolved over that decades, and yet how cohesive it all is in a bizarre way (except of course for Nelson Riddle's opening bit, which is more of an amusing footnote really).
The music goes from campy and hilarious to majestic and gothic, to zany and over-the-top (or "Under the Top" in Goldenthal's case) to lovely and breathtaking, to menacing, terrifying and brooding. It's quite stunning actually.
