In April of this year, Vera Donna Films traveled to the Samburu region of Kenya to meet the ladies of Umoja-Uaso, an all-female renegade community, and begin making a film about their remarkable efforts.

With camera in hand, they also met many other women in the area, including Setila Lenkokwai, a pioneering female politician.

This ten-minute research trailer is an introduction to the main characters of our film and the extraordinary lives they lead. Over time, they will be included in an extended documentary project about the growth of women's rights in rural Africa.
