In Ashbourne, Shrovetide Football is bigger than Christmas.
For the last 900 years, every Shrove Tuesday and Ash Wednesday the residents of this quiet English town have come out to play the world’s largest game of football.
The goals are three miles apart and streets, rivers, tunnels, fields and 5000 people lie between them.
The only thing that matters is getting the ball to the goal.
Rules of the Game follows Dave Hart on his amusing and heart-warming journey to integrate with the people of Ashbourne and experience the game as a local would.
