The rafts are made of thick 30-foot bamboo poles lashed together and sometimes the rapids can be rough.

This exciting river trip was a favorite adventure Hollywood silver screen actor Errol Flynn loved to take rafting trips from the foothills of Jamaica's Blue Mountains in the northeast to the bay of Port Antonio in the 1950s. Boston's wealthy elite also became hooked on the same river trips in the 1870s after banana exporter Captain L. Baker used the rafts to ferry his produce to the ships and liked it so much he began inviting his Boston friends along for the ride.
