Setting yourself apart from the gazillion sports photographers that exist out there, is maybe the most challenging hurdle to tackle if you want to break into sports photography (and possibly make a living out of it…). Finding your ‘chi’ and putting down your style is a quest some take a lifetime seeking. Stop searching, start working.

In this webinar I will try and explain to you about my views on this topic. What is style? And how can you make (sports) pictures stylish? I’ve been accused of making ‘stylish pictures’ myself occasionally and people supposedly recognize my photo’s from a distance. These are nice compliments, but this didn’t come out of nowhere. My style was formed along the way and it is an ongoing process mingling my views/knowledge and cultural baggage with the subjects (procyclists) in front of my lens.I will talk about some techniques I use and thoughts that go into making these pictures. As a cycling photographer I’m constantly required to make (practical) compromises, but that shouldn’t prevent one from being creative and making stylish stuff!
